Prologue

Welcome to The Modern Machine {!}, a blog about fashion and technology and how they interact in underground and mainstream society. I will be posting photographs and editorials that develop this theme further.

The reason behind the name of the blog is redundancy. Often products or concepts that are offered as innovations truly aren’t so. They are the old re-packaged, and presented as new, cutting-edge, or life-changing. The background art, a bull's skull filled with binary, is a juxtaposition between old and new; dead and alive. *Disclaimer* I certainly do not believe that the ideas I have are anything miraculous, but I hope that new connections can be made between ideas that have, up until this point, been seen as unrelated.

A little bit about myself: My name is Michaella; I am a second year student at Skidmore College, however, this semester I am a visiting student at St. John’s University. I am passionate about art, fashion and overall aesthetic. I am an aspiring graphic designer, web developer, and typographic artist. I enjoy playing music and I listen to a variety of genres. I am currently unemployed and job searching because I am in debt from my boot addiction. It's this same addiction that I need to fuel by finding a job - If you’re hiring...
I have a dog named Elliott {paying homage to Elliott Smith, a great musician}. He is small and white and incredibly friendly - the dog is. Elliott Smith wasn’t really known for being friendly. I am not a terribly open person so I suppose that this blog might be an opportunity to become a bit more comfortable with sharing information about my life and my opinions.
